To address the obvious question- you read correctly, and that's not a typo. With the NPM 11 beta1 just released, we decided to mix it up a bit and give you an early look at v12.0. Running simultaneous NPM betas is a first for SolarWinds, and demonstrates the unstoppable industriousness of our development teams. For those of you that have taken NPM 11 beta for a test-drive, you may notice that NPM 12 beta does not contain the same features. This is by design, and helps us deliver more functionality in a shorter period of time. Ultimately, branches will merge. This is an early beta, so your feedback now is invaluable in making sure the end-result is exactly what you've been looking for. Without further ado, let's look at some of the highlights of NPM 12 Beta1:
Web-Based Alerts
Beta1 introduces the first version of Web-based alerting. Check out the new condition builder and separate action management:
Independent Hardware Sensor Management
Create custom thresholds or ignore specific sensors:
Node Details added to "Manage Pollers"
Long requested feature - now you can manually specify Vendor / MachineType / OS / etc on a per SysOID basis. Create a poller and share it with your friends.
Interface Downtime Monitoring
New resources are available on interface details to display interface status over time. This data should also be available via reporting:
Duplex Mismatch Detection
Hard to believe in this day and age it's still a problem, but for the majority of us that always have the nagging wonder if there's a duplex issue, our new duplex mismatch detection will be peace of mind. Utilizing topology information as well as a variety of interface counters, we'll be able to detect definite and possible mismatches. Check out the new resources- you may be surprised what you find.
